Welcoming around 30,000 people through its doors in the last two years, the Howard Assembly Room, programmed by Opera North, comes into its own as it turns two this year.

The venue, which can seat up to 300 people, is praised for its beauty and perfect combination of Victorian and contemporary inspiration, and has for the first time launched as a unique hidden gem for corporate and private hire.

Over 140 ticketed events have entertained audiences in the venue, in addition to its role as the rehearsal home to the Orchestra of Opera North. Attracting big names such as British pianist Leon McCawley, folk duo Spiers and Boden, the four-piece modern-jazz group Portico Quartet, esteemed Austrian guitarist Fennesz and folk stars The Unthanks, the Howard Assembly Room feeds the thriving Yorkshire cultural scene with a varied programme of events, gigs, films, talks as well as a series of exciting family friendly workshops.
